This intimate wedding at Mount Rainier National Park was quite an adventure! It’ll give you all the mountain wedding inspiration, even despite the foggy AF weather and unplanned moodiness.
Due to the rain and forest fires at the time of Stephanie + Austen’s elopement (thank you, fall of 2020), SO many plans were up in the air for these two. They had scouted the most amazing lookout spot for their mountain wedding with a view of Mount Rainier a month before the wedding. And then of course, on the day of the wedding, it was COVERED in fog + was suuuper rainy. So much for that view they wanted!
But luckily, they were total troopers and made the absolute best out of it. It was so epic – all their guests were so great about going on the craziest off-roading road for 5 miles, and nobody cared that the weather turned out to be less than ideal! It was quite the adventure and gave off all the moody Twilight vibes (fellow Twilight fans where you at?!). Moody, foggy elopements have easily become some of my favs – talk about PNW feels!
Moral of the story: your wedding/elopement day doesn’t have to be about epic landscapes! And even if you’re intentionally tying the knot somewhere with amazing views, you need to make sure you’re prepared to make the best out of any situation that might happen. Whether that’s rain, fog, snow, wind, whatever. We can never guarantee perfect weather, and the last thing we want to happen is that you’re disappointed and sad on your wedding day due to unexpected weather that we can’t control!!
Stephanie + Austen started off their wedding day by getting ready in the CUTEST Airbnb in Packwood, this Cozy River Cabin! If you’re looking for a place near Mt. Rainier to get ready at or to spend your romantic wedding night at, this is the place for you.
The cabin sleeps 6 guests and has 1 bedroom + 3 beds! So if you want to bring a couple of your besties along, they can stay here too! It costs $286/night (+ fees/taxes), which is a pretty great price for such an amazing stay near Rainier.
It’s the cutest A-frame cabin by the river, with a big porch to chill on and the most PNW, rustic vibe you could ask for!!
If you’re looking for some more places to stay for your Rainier/Packwood elopement, here are a few more top-rated Airbnb’s in the area!
These two also had the most amazing PNW florist for their wedding flowers, Brier + Ivy!

Stephanie + Austen are truly such an awesome couple, and I’m so thankful I’ve become such close friends with them since their wedding day!! Their families celebrated with them so hard and it was truly an unforgettable experience.
