Are you trying to find the perfect spot for your Oregon Coast elopement?! You’ve come to the right place – I’ve got you covered!! Keep reading for my ultimate guide to eloping on the southern Oregon Coast – & find out why I love the area SO dang much!!
If you’ve ever seen any of my work, you’ve probably seen photos on the southern Oregon Coast, along the Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor!! (I know, that’s a mouthful)
The corridor stretches 12 miles along Highway 101, along the southern coast of Oregon. It is filledddd with incredible spots, wildlife, scenery, you name it. And I honestly think it’s SUCH an underrated spot when it comes to the amazing locations Oregon has to offer!!
Soooo why is this area the perfect destination for your Oregon Coast elopement?? Keep reading for 4 of the top reasons!
Since this scenic corridor lies along the southern coast of Oregon, it’s a bit of a trek from any of the major cities in the PNW. It’s about 5.5 hours from Portland & 6.5 hours from the Cannon Beach area of the coast.
And because of that, it’s wayyyy less crowded than most of the other coastal spots in the state!! Other beaches like Cape Kiwanda and Cannon Beach are amazing too, but they get a ton more crowded with visitors, especially in the summertime. And when there are lots of people around, it’s harder to find a place to hold an intimate elopement ceremony & enjoy the day in private!
Going off of that last point – it’s just not as well-known in general! Even people who are down to drive & make the trek to farther places might not know about this stretch of the coast, or know just how much it has to offer.
So your elopement here will automatically be wayyy more unique than a lot of other coastal elopements in the state, if that’s something you care about!!
And since it’s not as well-known as other spots, it’s also been impacted less by humans – the landscape and scenery remain much more untouched than some other beaches. We’re allllll about minimizing our impact & keeping nature beautiful over here!!
This is an obvious one – the landscape is freaking UNBEATABLE!! Not only do you have the Pacific Ocean and soft sand. You also have epic rock formations that you can climb onto, incredible sunrises & sunsets, cliffside views, tidepools, and secluded beaches everywhere. I seriously think it’s one of the most unique landscapes on Oregon’s coast!!
And finally, this is one that my couples are always stoked about: it’s soooo close to the Cali redwoods!! Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park is only about 40 minutes away from the closest parts of the corridor, since it’s soooo close to the Oregon/California border.
Which means that you can not only hit up this amazing coastal spot for your elopement – you can also visit the incredible redwoods! How could you ask for a more amazing diversity in locations + scenery?!

Now let’s get into some of the specific amazing locations you can choose from along the Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor!
This is the cove you’ll see in a lot of my photos!! It’s an incredible little cove with beautiful rock formations, trees, cliffsides, and tidepools. Seriously such a stunning spot near Brookings that I will never ever get tired of visiting!
Secret Beach is a beautiful beach spot near Brookings that you can access through a 1.6-mile trail. It’s an amazing trail for people who love hiking, and even has a waterfall nearby!
Humbug Mountain State Park is actually much farther up the coastline, about 50 miles north of Brookings, but I wanted to include it anyway! It’s an absolutely STUNNING spot with epic views of the ocean and is surrounded by trees & greenery. Definitely a spot that makes it hard to believe I live in this amazing state!
The Bandon Dunes are famous for the beautiful Bandon Dunes Golf Resort! The dunes provide amazing amazing views and is such a gorgeous green area to explore.
Finally, Pistol River State Scenic Viewpoint, near Brookings, is a beautiful area set in the dunes of the coast! It’s got wide-open land and hillside views.
I may just be biased because it’s about to be fall here in Oregon, but fall is my absolute favvvorite season for Oregon elopements, especially at coastal spots like this one!!
The colors of the trees along the coves & cliffsides CANNOT be beat, y’all.
Summer is obviously also amazing for any elopement on the Oregon Coast since that’s when the temperatures are warmest + we get the least rain. But if you want warm colors everywhere that give you all the crisp, almost-Halloween vibes, fall is the season for you!!
