Wind Mountain Ranch is every western-loving couple’s dream come true—except instead of being located in the heart of Jackson Hole ranch country, it’s right here in the PNW. If you’ve been searching for a wedding venue that makes you feel like you’ve been transported into a western romance novel (same honestly), Wind Mountain Ranch is the perfect Hood River wedding venue for you. Especially if you’re planning an immersive weekend or destination experience… that’s exactly what this place was designed for.
In this guide, I’ll be sharing everything that made me fall in love with Wind Mountain from my very first visit: the logistics of getting married here, package and pricing info, & most importantly, all the reasons why you should choose it as your wedding venue.

Wind Mountain Ranch is undoubtedly one of the prettiest properties in the entire Columbia River Gorge, y’all, nestled on 22 acres of scenic land in Stevenson, WA. It’s only 1 hour from PDX, so it’s easy to get to if you or your guests are flying in for a destination wedding—plus there’s plenty to do in the Hood River area less than 25 minutes away. The iconic “Bridge of the Gods” is also right nearby, which will take you from Stevenson to the town of Cascade Locks, on the Oregon side of the Gorge!

Wind Mountain Ranch can accommodate up to 175 wedding guests, and up to 35 overnight guests in the 7 cabins across the property.
The ranch is beautiful year-round, but every season offers something a little different—so it’s really up to you and the vibe you want to create. The main things I’d keep in mind are:
Yes! Wind Mountain Ranch will offer trusted recommendations to help you out, but you can bring any vendors you’d like without restrictions.
Absolutely 🙂 Wind Mountain Ranch is pet-friendly. Bring your pups and let ‘em run around the property while you tie the knot… they’ll love you for it.

Wondering if Wind Mountain Ranch is the right venue for the day you’re envisioning? Let me tell you just a few of the many reasons you should host your wedding at Wind Mountain Ranch—and why there’s truly no other venue like it in all of Washington.
First of all, the location of this ranch is seriously perfect, giving you easy access to the vibrancy of Portland as well as the quiet, secluded beauty of a rural ranch. You’ll never believe that you’re less than an hour away from the city; it feels like you’ve traveled hours and hours out of town and stumbled upon a remote paradise!
Because Wind Mountain Ranch has such an idyllic setting in the mountains, there are also tons of opportunities to explore and get in some fun outdoor rec during your time here. No matter what level of adventure you’re looking for, there’s something for everyone—from easy strolls around the property itself, to the nearby Wind Mountain trailhead, to tons of gorgeous waterfalls and riverside hikes throughout the Columbia River Gorge.
(If you want some reccs for where to check out in the Gorge, check out my elopement guide here!)

Let me start this off by saying that pictures will never do this venue justice, but I’m going to try my best haha! With over 20 acres of private land, there are SO many spots to explore without ever leaving the actual Wind Mountain Ranch property. Wherever you go around this expansive property, you’ll find panoramic views, grassy meadows, lush forests, and sweeping scenery of the surrounding mountains. It’s got the type of wide-open skies that make you feel soooo small and in awe of everything around you, which is honestly such an amazing feeling to experience during one of the most exciting weekends of your lives! You’ll have opportunities to stargaze, hike, walk, play games on the lawns, and so much more.

My favorite part about this ranch is that it was made for full, multi-day wedding weekends. For celebrations that extend past a single day; that invite you and your loved ones to sink into the moment together and truly embrace all the beauty that the Columbia River Gorge has to offer. Wind Mountain Ranch can host up to 35 overnight guests (which we’ll get to in more detail next!), so there’s room for you and all your most important people to totally immerse yourselves in the wonderful atmosphere this ranch has created. The last time I shot a wedding here, I was literally so sad that I couldn’t stay in one of the cabins myself, haha! You’d be doing yourselves an injustice by just celebrating here for a single day… just trust me when I say to make it a multi-day thing, because you will NEVER want to leave once you arrive.

Now for a little more about those cabins I mentioned! Yes, Wind Mountain Ranch isn’t just a wedding venue, but also a ranch with overnight lodging on-site. There are 7 timber cabins total spread across the property, each one set along the tree line and offering various views of the picturesque landscapes. They’ve done an incredible job of making the cabins feel like enhancements of the landscapes, not distractions or anything that gets in the way of your experience—no, they actually elevate your experience in the best way possible.
And possibly the best part: every cabin was designed with the most beautiful & thoughtful details, like the gorgeous floral wallpaper they added to certain cabins during a recent renovation, the rustic chic furnishings, and the adorable Wind Mountain Ranch postcards you can take & send to loved ones to share about all the memories you made here. Stay the night before, the night of, or (ideally) the full weekend of your wedding… you won’t regret it.

Again, photos do nottttt do this place and its insane wedding venues justice. Wind Mountain Ranch has three different ceremony site options, and a new indoor reception space that I am in awe over. Here’s a little bit more about each one, so you can figure out what best fits your celebration.
The first ceremony site is probably the most romantic of them all, the Pond View. Ceremonies here take place right on the dock of the lily pond, where you’ll tie the knot as your guests watch from the lawn right beside you. The mountain backdrop is unreal and so, so awe-inspiring for a ceremony of any size. Choosing the Pond View for your ceremony means you truly get a little bit of everything: mountains, evergreens, hills, and the sweet lily pond!

If you’ve been paying attention to the photos throughout this guide, you might recognize the River View ceremony site, since it’s where my couple Alesia & James said their vows! This spot is perfect for either ceremonies with guests OR private first looks/vow exchanges, as it’s a bit further away from the main venue area and feels more hidden. The views from this southwestern hill overlook the Columbia River, with wider skies as your background compared to the epic mountain backdrop of the Pond View & Mountain View ceremony sites.

Last but definitely not least is the Mountain View ceremony venue, where your guests are facing the mountains that loom over Wind Mountain Ranch. This mountain & forest scenery feels dramatic and looks beautiful in any type of weather, especially with a little bit of fog or clouds rolling through the peaks—sooo moody and romantic.

I can’t even tell y’all how excited I am about this one, because they’ve been working on it for so long and it’s finally come to life! Wind Mountain Ranch now has a STUNNING indoor reception hall that feels elevated, chic, and more contemporary than the other buildings around the property. With floor-to-ceiling windows, you still get to enjoy sweeping views of the ranch even when you’re indoors—which is such a great option to have in case of bad weather. Walking around the hall is equally as magical of an experience, with the landscaping they’ve been incorporating around the exteriors. And the east patio on the side of the hall is perfect for cocktail hour!

The last thing that makes Wind Mountain Ranch such a special wedding venue is that it’s locally owned, and run with so much amazing hospitality. Marlowe, the founder & CEO, and the rest of her team are incredible hosts to literally every guest that walks onto the property. They also own the Griffin House, a sister property & another epic Columbia River Gorge wedding venue (which I wrote about here!)… so they’ve got tons of experience and expertise to help make your entire experience unforgettable, from the moment you arrive to when you wave the ranch goodbye (or, hopefully, until next time).

Want to see a real-life example of what your wedding or elopement could look like at Wind Mountain Ranch? Check out this incredible day I spent with Alesia & James, exploring the grounds, exchanging their private vows, and embracing the windy spring weather. One of my favorite elopements ever!
